Rutherford, Hemraj among GAW players selected in Abu Dhabi T10 league
As T20 cricket is rampant around the world, a road has been paved for a faster version of the game, namely the T10 format. All attention will now be focused on the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10, which will be played in the United Arab Emirates from November 15-24.
Highlighting the Hero Caribbean Premier League 2019 edition, the selection of key players from the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) line-up was seen as the Caribbean contingent made their presence felt with stellar knocks. Despite the Warriors losing to the Barbados Tridents in the finale, there were notable performances from key players that earned them the right to be selected in the T10 league. Captain of the Warriors, Shoaib Malik was selected in the Icon category by the Delhi Bulls for a price tag of US$60,000.
The other Warriors players to be selected in the league were Quais Ahmad and Chris Green, they were selected in Category B for a fee cap of US$30,000. Ahmad will represent the Bangla Tigers, while Green will play alongside the Northern Warriors. Closing off Category B was the experienced Ben Laughlin, who was snapped up by Team Abu Dhabi.
In Category C, which has a price tag of US$20,000, Sherfane Rutherford was selected by the Delhi Bulls and Nicholas Pooran by the Northern Warriors. In the sixth round, stylish opener Chandrapaul Hemraj was picked in the Emerging Players Category for a fee of US$10,000 and will be representing the Deccan Gladiators.
Abu Dhabi T10 will be the third season of the T10 League. The matches will have a 10-over-a-side format with a duration of 90 minutes. The tournament will be played as a round robin followed by semi-finals and the final. It will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
