Sailor stabbed by labourer at Parika Stelling

A sailor attached to the Transport and Harbours Department was stabbed to death at the Parika Ferry Stelling, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Dead is Shurlon Errol Cutting of Lot 2529 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Reports are the 48-year-old sailor was stabbed to death with a pair of scissors following an argument with a labourer.
This newspaper was told that the suspect is a 28-year-old labourer of Ithaca Village, West Bank Berbice (WBB).
According to Police, on Thursday evening at about 18:30h, Cutting was at the Parika Ferry Stelling when he noticed the suspect lingering and told him to vacate the area.
Reports are the suspect did not comply and an argument ensued between the two men. As the row escalated, Cutting reportedly picked up a piece of wood and lashed the labourer.
In response, the suspect whipped out a pair of scissors from his left side pants pocket and stabbed Cutting once near his left armpit.
The sailor fell to the ground and was picked up by a public-spirited person and rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was admitted but subsequently died.

The murder suspect was arrested at the Parika Stelling, with the scissors in his possession. According to the police, visible bruises were seen on the perpetrator’s left knee and the left side of his abdomen.
He too was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was treated and handed over to Police.
Meanwhile, at Cutting’s home, his older brother was at a loss for words when this publication visited on Friday. He stated that he was “not in the frame of mind” to speak about his brother’s death but noted that Cutting has a son.
