Saint Anne’s Primary crowned Region 4 Windball champions

The National Gymnasium was once again home to Wind ball action as the 22nd annual End of School Year “Edward Cobenna Memorial” Region 4, Primary Schools, Champion’s trophy was hosted. When the dust settled Saint Anne’s Primary were the victors of the tournament which was organized by the National Sports commission (NSC), in collaboration with AL Sport & Tour Promotions and witnessed by over 200 students, parents and supporters.
The highly anticipated Region 4 (Demerara Mahaica) final saw East Bank Champions Saint Anne’s Primary coming up against East Coast Champs Clonbrook.
Batting first, Clonbrook posted only 88 runs with the loss of one wicket. Tyrone Marcs was the best batsman for the Clonbrook team, hitting 28 runs inclusive of four 6s. Prince Lewis and Kevon Aiggle both contributed 18 to Clonbrook’s score.
The chase saw Saint Anne’s opening pair of Emmanuel Lewis and Brandon Narine cruising to 92 for the win. The eventual player of the tournament Emmanuel Lewis top scored with 76, inclusive of ten 6s.
The third place playoff which was contested between Supply Primary and Mahaica Primary, saw the former emerging victorious.
Coming to the crease first Supply posted a mammoth 121 without the loss of a wicket. Kenette Salvador (57) and Christopher Gorriah (55) were responsible for the large total.
In the chase, Mahaica struggled to reach even half of their target, as the allotted overs expired with the team only making 39-3. Lawrence Frank and Azara Franklin contributed 10 runs each.
Saint Anne’s had made their way into the regional final after defeating Supply in the East Bank Final. There Supply posted 72 without loss, with contributions from Kenette Salvador 42 (six 6s) and Kelvin Daniels 28.
However, Saint Anne’s made light work of the total reaching 95 without losing a wicket. Emmanuel Lewis was once again the top batsman with 56 (six 6s) and Brandon Narine pitched in with 28 runs.

Most promising player Emmanuel Lewis
