A 27-year-old salesgirl was on Tuesday gagged, tied up, and beaten by three armed men at Quartz Stone Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The victim is of Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara (WCD), and is employed to operate a shop at Quartz Stone waterfront.
According to information received, three men entered the shop at approximately 20:30h and purchased three bottles of beer.
In the process of being served, two of the men whipped out handguns and forced the woman into a room where they gagged her while tying her feet and hands with scotch tape. The men dealt the woman a slap while demanding that she reveal where the cash and jewellery were hidden. In fear, the woman handed over a Digicel Modem valued $160,000, a $100,000 gold chain, a gold ring valued at $30,000 along with $100,000.
The bandits made good their escape in an awaiting car. The salesgirl managed to free herself and went to her employer. She was subsequently taken to the Bartica Police Station.
