Salesman robbed of $1.4M on Mandela Avenue

An employee of Guy-Bisco Importation Limited was on Thursday relieved of $1.4 million in cash while conducting business on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
According to reports, the man had just completed transacting business for his employer and had secured the funds in the canter he was driving.
Police said the salesman along with his porter and a warehouse attendant were heading back to the worksite and in the vicinity of the Guyana Water Inc (GWI), two armed men pulled up on a red and black motorcycle.
The pillion rider reportedly jumped off and dealt the driver two blows to his head with a gun.
He then pointed the gun in his direction and ordered him to hand over the keys. The bandit then took out a grey canister containing the $1.4 million and the victim’s cellular phone.
After collecting the cash and phone, he reportedly rejoined his accomplice and they made good their escape. Investigations are underway. The Police were contacted and an investigation was launched.
