Santos FC wins first cluster

Frank Watson Under-15 Tournament

The Santos FC Under-15 team is the first to enter the final four of the GFF Pele Alumni Frank Watson Under-15 Tournament after they registered commanding wins on Saturday afternoon.
The Frank Watson Under-15 Tournament was first played at the regional member association levels and thereafter, the winners of the respective areas were invited to a national competition to test their skills of the next generation of players and crown a national Under-15 champion.
As such, Santos FC (Georgetown), BV/Triumph United FC and Corriverton FC met at the National Training Centre of Saturday for a day of decision in cluster one.
The first game of the day was a contest between BV/Triumph FC and Santos FC, in a truly one-sided affair. Although the BV boys were quick on their feet, adjusting to the new AstroTurf, they were often outplayed by Santos. Kenin Mullin was the first to strike early on in the 7th minute, giving Santos an advantage. His teammate Miguel Stoll returned in the 35th to sink another goal for the 2-0 win.
Corriverton Lynx FC and BV/ Triumph United FC met in the second encounter of the day. Corriverton were keen on displaying their skill with Michael Cumberbatch finding the back of the net in the 7th for his team’s 1-0 lead. Roydon Chapman of BV/Triumph replied in the 35th for a tied score. Alfred Dominic ensured that the score was 2-1 at the half with a goal in the 45th. Fenny Adrian sealed Corriverton’s 3-1 win with a goal in the 60th.
The final game of the day was a deciding one with Santos and Corriverton Lynx FC facing off. The Berbician boys were no match for the Georgetown players as Santos got the scoreboard ticking as early as possible. Raymond Bandhu found the back of the net in the first minute of play to command a lead. Shemar Fraser then contributed in the 18th to push the score to 2-0. Miguel Stoll then followed up in the 20th with the third goal for Santos. They then focused on defence in the second half in order to seal a victory and a spot in the final four.
The second cluster will kick off today at the National Training Centre, providence with battles between Timehri Panthers, FC Eagles and Milerock FC.
