Saxacalli benefit from Paul, V-Net Communications benevolence

It was joyous occasion on Saturday morning in the small community of Saxacalli, located on the West Bank of the Essequibo River some 25 miles south of Parika, as a son of the soil, Keemo Paul along with the support of sponsor V-Net Communications brought bright smiles to community members by donating several sporting equipment.
Paul, who is a current Guyana Jaguars all-rounder and former West Indies under-19 World Cup vice-captain inspired his team to championship glory in 2016, spent his nursery years playing cricket in the community of his birth.

Former Head Mistress at the Saxacalli Primary School Pearline Woolford, told the gathering tales of Paul’s childhood and his love for the sport and how as youngster his father, David Paul, would having him batting the entire day, to her bemusement she wondered if Keemo ever got out.
Woolford embraced Keemo for always remembering his roots and staying humble, remaining embedding in region and foresees that one day he will go unto play senior cricket for the West Indies.
She ended her emotional address by telling the cricketer, “Must not let success get to your head nor let failure get to you heart” and “ rule one is Don’t quit and rule two is always remember rule one”.
Likewise, Managing Director of V Net Communication Safraz Sheriffudeen, one of the player’s faithful sponsors explained that his support of the 19 year-old stems from the fact that he sees a future world star. Sheriffudeen commended Keemo for returning to his home and giving back to the community which he believes can become an area for eco-tourism.
The managing Director also pledged to continue supporting the player throughout all his endeavours.
Siddiq Mohamed ,who was also a part of the visiting contingent highlighting an important fact to the other students present. He explained that Keemo was one who one loves reading and though they may be good sports they must remain focus with their education.
The man of the moment, Keemo, was in all smiles as he reminisced his days as a child in the community, revealing that this gesture was just the beginning as he has “bigger things planned for the community”.
The right-handed batsman is hoping to one day bring the entire community which has a total of 101 residents, to see him in play at the National Stadium, Providence while at the same time helping in any way possible to improve the livelihood of family and friends.
Keemo, who hit the winning run against India in the January 2016 under-19 World Cup made his First-class debut for Guyana in March this year against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at the Queen’s Park Oval.
In his second match, he had a career-best match 9 for 64 against the Windward Island Volcanoes, while also making his highest score of 46.
