Schools Volleyball tourney enters final stages

A number of schools have advanced to the final stages of the Region 6 Inter-Secondary Schools volleyball tournament slated for the Port Mourant Training Centre (PMTC) outdoor court on Monday October 9, 2017.
The school teams competed in the initial round-robin stages before progressing to the play-offs which were contested in four different zones with teams now advancing to the business end of the tournament.
Head selector and Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) President Levi Nedd said the entire competition was a great way to find and eventually blood new talent for an U18 side in wake of the 2018 Inter Guiana Games, where Guyana have the opportunity to win for a fourth straight year.
Backed by the National Sports Commission (NSC) who donated a number of trophies for the tourney, Nedd stated that he was happy with what he had been seeing over the recent weeks and expects the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals to cap off a successful venture.
