The Scotiabank Annual Golf Tournament which is set to tee off on Saturday, September 22, is a part of the bank’s 50th anniversary celebration, and is one which is expected to be heavily attended by golfers.
Golfers will assemble this weekend for another competition as they commence battle from12:30h at the Lusignan Golf Course. The grand tournament continues a tradition by the bank in support of golf and the LGC; a solid partnership, which has grown over many years and has produced some magnificent competition for the players.
The tournament is one of the main attractions of the LGC, with hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs, while the Open itself generates one of the largest fields of players every year. Top 2 winners in three categories and the best Gross and Best Net winner overall, prizes for Longest Drive and Nearest to the, Pin will be awarded to winners.
In announcing his support for the event, Mr. Raymond Smith, the bank’s country manager, said that since Scotiabank opened their first branch in Guyana in 1968, they have been focusing on Sports among other areas of development in the country.
The LGC wrapped up a double-header this past weekend with the Silica Sands Open on Saturday being won by LGC President Aleem Hussain, while Sunday’s farewell tournament in honor of MACORP CEO Jorge Medina was won by Mohanlall Dinanauth. That tournament was also heavily attended.
Meanwhile, this weekend’s tournament will also provide further preparation for the upcoming Suriname Invitational in October, followed by the Guyana Open Championship in November.
