Scotiabank Table Tennis tournament poised to be action-packed
The Scotiabank sponsored Junior Table Tennis Invitational tournament which is being organised under the auspices of the Titans Table Tennis Club is being touted to be one filled with intense action at the Queen’s College Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday. Marque youth players Miguel Wong, Kyle Edghill, Niron Bissu, Jamal Nichols, Neveah Clarkson, Jonathon Van Lange, Kaysan Ninvalle and Thuraia Thomas are some of the names headlining the tournament. The events set to be competed are the Boys & Girls 15 years & Under; Boys & Girls 18 years and under; 21 years & Under and the Open and “B” Class Open. Registration
The trophies that will be on offer at the Scotiabank Junior Table Tennis Invitational
commences at 09:00h on Saturday and the fee for B class & 21 open is $500 and the other categories being $300. The u-18s will be the first to wield their rackets when action starts at 10:00h on Saturday followed by the u-15s from 13:30h and the 21 years and Open from 15:00h while the ‘B’ Class open is on Sunday from 10:00h.
Head Coach at the club Dwain Dick posited the tournament which is their second in two weeks has the “aim of setting a solid foundation for progress and sustaining table tennis”.
He added, “Scotiabank has come on board as you can see to support our vision to revitalize and promote table tennis as one of the best indoor sports”.
Additionally, winners from the previous tournament will be awarded and the under-15 doubles will be contested after bad light halted play.
