Scotiabank temporarily closes Carmichael St branch

…after staff tests positive for COVID-19

Following confirmation that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19, Scotiabank has announced that its branch located at Carmichael Street, Georgetown would be closed until further notice.

In a social media post on Wednesday, the bank stated that it was closing its doors as it implemented necessary protocols.
“We have been informed that one of our employees at the Carmichael Street branch, who has been quarantined since exhibiting symptoms, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Our colleague is now under the medical supervision of the Ministry of Health. Please be advised that our Carmichael Street branch is temporarily closed until further notice,” the bank said in the notice.
There are six ATMs located at the Carmichael Street location. Scotiabank is urging its customers to use its online platform to pay their bills, transfer funds and more by following the guidelines at gy.scotiabank.com.
To date, Guyana has recorded a total of 1984 COVID-19 cases. Some 16 persons are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while reports from the Health Ministry revealed 60 persons have died already as a result of the deadly virus. (G9)
