Seaton named Silver Sharks most decorated swimmer

Young swimming prodigy Leon Seaton Jr was deemed Silver Sharks Aquatic Swim Club most decorated and accomplished swimmer for 2017 after a fleet of impressive performances. The announcement was made on Saturday when the club held its annual award ceremony at the Herdmanston Lodge.
The 13 year-old had a sublime year in the water for club, school and country which has seen him earn a spot on the team for the upcoming CARIFTA Games swimming championships which will be held in Kingston, Jamaica from March 30 to April 3.

One of his most notable performances has been constantly lowering his times in the 50m Freestyle to which now stands at 25.35s.
More so, at the XXIII Goodwill Swim Meet held in August at the National Aquatic Centre, Liliendaal, he competed in thirteen events, consisting of 10 individual races and 3 relays. He won 9 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal, for a total of 12 medals.
Also on the awards list for outstanding performances were Jadyn George, Danielle George, Joseph Matthews, Nathon Hacket, Latisha Blair, Trumaine Cole and Shamal Bryan.
Improved participation by swimmers came from Darion Pereria, Daniel Claxton, Nickel Charles, Adasema Roberts, Anan Roberts, Kenmar Roberts, Nicholas Verwey, Emani O’Brien, Joshua Pitt, Joshua Verwey, Vonique Stewart, Hamani Paul and Leancia Smith.
Certificates were also given out to persons who made over 90% attendances at the Aquatic Centre or the Colgrain pool. For the Aquatic centre were Seaton Jr, the George twins, Cole, Blair and Matthews while for Colgrain Nikaquan Browne, Pierre Wallace, Omari Parris, Ethan Parris, Arian Shako, Keziah Archer, Aditya Singh, Tamesh Ragnaith, Akintunde Dairymple and Ahkiel Mc Koy.
According to club representative Leon Seaton Snr the vision is to promote swimming by enhancing the skills and commitment. Seaton Snr also wished to thank some sponsors such as GO-Invest, Scotiabank and Maggie’s catering service.
