Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s Triple Crown…
The highly anticipated second leg of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s Triple Crown will be the main event for horse-racing in Guyana when it kicks off this Sunday at the Rising Sun Turf Club in Port Mourant, East Berbice.
This Sunday’s event will attract a total prize purse of almost $2million, as the day of events will showcase 8 races. The feature event of the day will see the winner of the ‘C’ Class and Lower contest carting off $1million in cash. For the three-year-old Guyana-bred horses, the winning jockey will pocket $400,000 while the winner of the F Class category will take home $350,000.
In the H Class category, the winning horse will take home $300,000, while in the I Class many will see the winner bagging $250,000.
The J and K Class will see the winners taking home $230,000 and $220,000 respectively. Culminating the day of events, the L Class and L Class and Lower will duke it out as they compete in their categories for $200,000 and $140,000.
Many of Guyana’s top horses will be competing in the event. Fans will be on the edges of their seats as Vera’s Finally has returned from injury and will be looking to score big this Sunday.
Outstanding individual performers, including jockeys, trainers and stables, will be presented with accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
The final leg of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s Triple Crown will take place on April 21 at the same venue. There will be over $20 million at stake, inclusive of cash, trophies and other mementos from gate prizes. Gates for the event will be opened at 12:00 hrs.
