Second round of Telenec Inc’s first division tournament continues tomorrow
High quality cricket will continue in Berbice tomorrow, Saturday April 2, with the second round of the Telenec Inc first division tournament.
In round two of this knockout tournament, Albion will battle Skeldon at Albion, while Rose Hall Town Namilco will play Young Warriors at Area H Ground on the Corentyne.
According to the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), the match involving Tucber Park and the winner of the Rose Hall Canje vs Police match will be played at a later date.
The rules of this tournament stipulate that all matches start at 9:30am. Only one non-Berbician would be allowed to play per match. A maximum of two non-Berbician players can be registered per year, a walkover shall be granted half an hour after the scheduled start of play. And captains have to be present at latest twenty minutes before the 9:30am time to spin the toss, or they would forfeit the toss.
Additionally, the BCB would allow players to play with one vaccine in this tournament, but only fully vaccinated players would be allowed in the remaining stages of this first division tournament. In the event of a washout, only the BCB can reset a new date. All COVID-19 guidelines are to be followed – face masks in pavilion, hand sanitizers, social distancing, and teams have to provide their own lunches.
Only registered players are allowed to play for their own club, and all teams are to submit their list of players before the start of any tournament. Any player seeking to play for a new club must first obtain permission from their old club and acceptance from the new club.
In the first round of this tournament, Tucber Park fast bowler Shamar Joseph and the Rose Hall Town duo of Kevlon Anderson and Kevin Sinclair were among the star performers. In matches played across the Ancient County, Tucber Park, Rose Hall Town Namilco, and Young Warriors have recorded victories.
