Carl Rodrigues, a security guard accused of breaking and entering the Texila American University at Providence, East Bank of Demerara, was on Friday released on ,000 bail after denying the charge of larceny.
It is alleged that the accused on June 3, broke into the University and stole one laptop and a visual printer, totalling $148,000 in value.
Rodrigues told the court that he resides in South Sophia, Greater Georgetown,
with his wife and six children. The court heard that the laptop was recovered and is currently with Police.
Rodrigues returns to court on June 16.
In addition, the court of Magistrate Fabayo Azore dismissed a case of larceny against a pump attendant after the Virtual Complainant took to the witness box and gave a sworn statement to the effect that he no longer wished to pursue the matter. It is alleged that Kimberly De Souza in the company of others broke and entered the store room of Winston Merclyn on Regent Road, Bourda Georgetown, stealing therein a quantity of items, valued at $253,000.
