Security guard charged for stealing dresses from workplace
A father of two, who allegedly stole a quantity of dresses from his employer, was on Monday charged for the offence.
Lenno Alexander, 28, of Lot 317 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and denied the charge.
It is alleged that on September 7, 2019 at Regent Street, Georgetown, he stole 12 dresses valued at $60,000 property of Sunil Theotia.
Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris told the court that on the day in question, the defendant was leaving the store where he is employed as a security guard when he was stopped and asked to carry out a search on his bag.
The court heard that it was during the search that a few dresses were found. However, after the items were discovered, the owner became suspicious and asked to carry out another search on the defendant’s car, when the remainder of items were discovered in the trunk.
The Police was summoned and the guard was arrested. He was released on $40,000 bail.
The case will continue on September 23.
