Home News Security guard charged for threatening behaviour
…accused of pointing gun at a woman
A security guard of Lot 18 William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was granted bail in the sum of $70,000 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, after allegedly pointing his gun at a woman.
Ronatha Gamel, 27, pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was represented by attorney Stanley Moore.
It is alleged that on November 11, 2016, at 11 Miles, Mahdia, he made use of threatening behaviour towards Annecar Penny.
Police prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that the defendant is licensed to carry a firearm due to the nature of his occupation. Jeffers further stated that he has no objections to bail, however he asked that condition be attached to the bail.
The Chief Magistrate ordered the defendant to stay away from the virtual complainant and cautioned him against being in possession of a firearm, pending the outcome of the matter.
The matter will continue on January 17, 2017.
