Security guard gunned down outside ECD Chinese supermarket

A security officer was shot dead outside a Chinese supermarket at Nonpariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD), in a suspected execution-style killing on Wednesday evening. The dead man has been identified as 25-year-old Keion Wilman, of Ninth Street, Dazzell Housing Scheme, ECD.

Based on reports received, the now deceased man was performing armed security duties at the O-Guo Chinese Supermarket when two men on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire in his direction.
After committing the act, the men fled the scene while the injured security officer was rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. He reportedly sustained several gunshot wounds to his chest and upper body.
Police have since recovered Wilman’s 12-gauge shotgun with four live rounds of cartridges, along with a suspected warhead at the scene. A suspected live 9mm round and several spent shells were also recovered.
The Police have since secured and are currently reviewing CCTV footage. The motive for the shooting remains unclear as investigators continue to look for clues.
