Security supervisor nabbed after shoplifting at Giftland Mall

A security supervisor is now in Police custody after he shoplifted at the Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, Georgetown.

The incident occurred about 11:43h on Tuesday. Reports are the suspect, who is employed with a private security firm, went into a store at the Mall and shoplifted a pair of brand-name slippers valued at $21,000, and attempted to leave the store.
However, quick action by the Mall’s security led to his apprehension. Police from the Turkeyen Police Station were summoned and the shoplifter was handed over. Guyana Times was told that store security officers told Police that the man took the merchandise while browsing in the store, but did not pay for it. He is expected to appear in court on Friday. (G9)
