The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Hand-in-Hand Insurance sponsored Under-19 Inter-County tournament will commence today with its three-day segment.
At the Everest Cricket Club, the marquee names in Windies Youth players Bhaskar Yadram and Joshua Persaud will look to make a big impact in their final for Demerara who play the National Under-17 Select squad.
The list of match winners lengthens for the Demerara who are the defending champions as fellow Windies Youth player Ashmead Nedd , express Windies under-16 seamer Qumar Torrington and the all-round talent of Sagar Hathiramani make them strong tournament favourites.

The under-17s should not be discounted too early since their battling will revolve heavily around Windies under-16 captain Sachin Singh who has the ability to decimate attacks above his age group. Seon Glasgow Jr and Yeudistir Persaud are also some handy additions with bat in hand.
Over at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, Essequibo opposes Berbice. The squad from the Ancient County have undergone intense preparation and the duo of Kevin Sinclair and Kelvon Anderson will be a prized wicket for the opposition; there is still powerful Alex Algoo who should open the batting.
Both matches commence from 10:00h and will be used as the basis of preparation and selection of the National squad for the July-August regional tournament in Barbados.
