Sensational Daniels storms West Ruimveldt to title
Courts/Malta Schools Pee-Wee Football…
A superb helmet-trick by forward Ian Daniels handed West Ruimveldt their maiden Courts/Malta Schools Pee-Wee Football title by hammering Marian Academy 4-0 when the final of the seventh edition was played Saturday at the Banks DIH, Thirst Park Ground.
Daniels, who won the golden boot award with a whopping sixteen goals, broke the hearts of numerous Marian Academy supporters with his eye-catching skills with the ball.
The forward made his first mark in the 10th minute, with a crunching shot from inside the box. Six minutes later, he was awarded a penalty and once again made no mistake.
Inaugural champions, Marian looked impressive finding each other in the spaces but most of their attacks lacked the cutting edge to change the scores at half-time.
When the second stanza begun, West Ruimveldt unit took control once again with Daniels’ skilfully controlling the ball then unleashing a piercing strike from the right in the 28th minute.
Two minutes later, he went on the prowl and was served another goal, this time sliding one past the defender and the keeper’s left to signal another emphatic celebration by teammates and numerous fans.
Marian Academy had a late opportunity for a consolation goal but spilled the penalty due to smart keeping from Daniel Sutton, who won the best keeper award. Teammate Jonathan Andries won the Most Valuable Player award while Marian, in addition to their second place prize was deemed the most disciplined school.
Meanwhile, in the third place play-off, Sophia won 5-3 on penalty kicks against Enterprise after the match ended in a goalless stalemate.
In five to eight placement matches, Stella Maris defeated St Agnes 1-0 after Fidel Norville scored in the 20th. Redeemer got the better of School of the Nations via a 3-0 win. Nicholas Watts had a double with goals in the 3rd and 10th while Nikolio Sandiford scored in the 7th.
Over in the 9-12 matches Parfait Harmony hammered F.E Pollard 3-0 with Samuel Lematt netting in the 2nd and 33rd while an own goal in the 23rd further sunk F.E Pollard.
Mae’s edged South Ruimveldt 3-2 with Danesh Persaud scoring in the 7th and 31st with support from Daniel Charles in the 17th. On the mark for South were Elijah Dotson in the 11th and Collin Saul in the 16th.
For the 13-16 spots, St Ambrose lost 1-2 to Tucville after John Harry (11th) and Ryan Greene (12th) sealed the match in the first half. Rovin Henry scored for St Ambrose in the 19th. Goed Fortuin were also gathered success, winning 2-1 against Den Amstel with their marksmen being Kristoff Deochan (13th) and Joshua Bobb (29th) while Keshawn Humphrey scored in the 9th for Den Amstel.
