Sentencing for wife killer adjourned to next Tuesday

A sentencing hearing for a 38-year-old former Policeman, who admitted to killing his reputed wife, which was initially scheduled for Thursday, has been deferred to next Tuesday. Earlier this month, Jermaine Bristol of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, appeared before Judge Sandil Kissoon on a murder charge.
He admitted that he murdered 24-year-old Shanece Lawrence on August 22, 2018.
Defence counsel Everton Lammy-Singh is representing the convict, while State Counsel Muntaz Ali is presenting the prosecution’s case.
The case is being heard at the High Court in Demerara.
It was reported that after killing Lawrence, Bristol walked into the East La Penitence Police Station and confessed to the crime. He then led the Police to his East La Penitence dwelling where the woman’s body was discovered with a knife stuck in the neck.
An autopsy revealed that Lawrence sustained 10 stab wounds about her body. It was reported that the couple shared a rocky relationship spanning over half a decade. (G1)
