Police on Sunday morning shot and injured a man who was wanted for a series of robberies while trying to arrest him at Springlands, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), Commander of Police B Division, Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam has confirmed.
The wanted man was identified as Kevin Padmore.
Assistant Commissioner Amsterdam said that Padmore was wanted for a series of armed robberies, simple larceny and larceny offences, committed in Berbice.
A police report stated that at about 10:20h on Sunday, Police at the Springlands Police Station received information that Padmore was at a house in Scottsburg.
Ranks went to the address and conducted a search, however; they came up empty-handed.
A rank then proceeded to search a clump of bushes nearby where he found the wanted man hiding. During the arrest Padmore was shot to his thigh.
He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted and remains a patient under police guard.
He is listed as stable, and is likely to appear before the Court soon.
