Sawh revealed that Region One had seen an 8.2 per cent reduction in serious crimes, with only 45 such incidents recorded in 2023, compared to 49 during the same period in 2022.
He said traffic incidents in the Division have seen a decline in 2023, with only six such incidents recorded and four accidents from January 1 to October 15, representing a staggering 283 per cent reduction in the figures of the previous year.
Acknowledging the public’s collaboration with the Police, Sawh expressed gratitude for the support that solidified the partnership’s pillars. He added that the GPF’s achievements were possible only because members of the communities had assisted the Police.
Deputy Commander of Region One, Deputy Superintendent James Tappin, has addressed critical issues affecting the region, particularly domestic violence stemming from alcohol, drug and substance abuse. He assured listeners that the Police Force is actively working with key stakeholders to combat illegal alcohol sales and narcotics trafficking, and emphasised the GPF’s commitment to creating a safer environment.
