Several injured after car slams into utility pole

Several persons were injured after the motor car in which they were travelling collided with a utility pole after which it spun and ended up in a nearby trench at Crane Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Those injured are the driver, Hemraj Beharry, 50; Khemraj Beharry, 30; Surajay Beharry, 28; Khemraj Beharry, 9, Miguel Beharry, 6; Nirmala Beharry, 19, and Camille Beharry, 51, all of Block X Diamond New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Police stated that motor car bearing registration number PFF 8417 was proceeding along the Crane Public Road and was about to negotiate a turn when Hemraj lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole. The vehicle then spun on the roadway and eventually ended up in a nearby trench.
As a result of the incident, the occupants received injuries and were taken to West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where they were examined.
Camille was admitted as a patient in the Accident and Emergency Unit and her condition is regarded as stable. The others were treated and sent away.
A breathalyser test was conducted on the driver but there were no traces of alcohol in his system. He was, however, arrested and taken to Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station assisting with investigations.
