Several persons have been left nursing various injuries on Monday, following a late-night accident on the La Grange, West Bank Demerara (WBD) public road between a minibus, BAG3065 and a motor car, PZZ 6928. The accident occurred at approximately 22:00h. The minibus which was branded Sheriff Security was transporting workers at the time of the accident. It is unclear how many people were in the minibus or in the car. The driver is believed to have sustained a broken leg. According to an eye witness, at the time of the accident the minibus was proceeding north along the western carriageway, while the motor car was proceeding south on the western carriageway. It is unclear how the two vehicles ended up in each other’s paths.

“I was going in and when I turned back, I heard the bang. The bus was coming around the turn, lost control and the bus ended up in the path of the car. It was a head on collision. The driver of the car, his foot was broken. I heard nothing was wrong with the driver of the bus,” a resident who witnessed the accident noted.
Up to press time, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) had not issued a release on the details of the two-vehicle smash-up.
