Several injured in Linden Highway accident

Several persons were injured on Wednesday afternoon when a minibus bound for Mahdia in Region 8 reportedly suffered a blowout in the vicinity of Moblissa on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway and toppled several times.
While details of the accident are sketchy, this publication understands that the driver of the bus, who hails from Amelia’s Ward, Linden, lost control of the vehicle after the blowout.
The injured passengers were taken to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC). They are 26-year-old Mark Cartwright of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, who suffered lacerations to the right foot; 46-year-old Burt Samuels of a West Bank Demerara village, who has been hospitalized in stable condition; 38-year-old Curt Cox of a Pomeroon river community, who suffered trauma to the head and left hand; 26-year-old Jerry Jones of 1265 Section B, South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, who suffered head and shoulder injuries; and 39-year-old Mark Benjamin.
Cartwright and Benjamin were treated at the hospital and sent away, while the other injured passengers were admitted in stable condition.
