Dear Editor,
My heart goes out to the family of those two young men who lost their lives so horrendously. The cruelty is beyond understanding, and youthful lives have been ended. It was with great distress and sadness that we learnt of the “ruthless and cold-blooded” murder that took the lives of Isaiah and Joel Henry which left so many families, friends, our nation in a state of shock.
Loss of life is always tragic, but when the lives lost were those of young and youthful individuals due to violence and anger by the hands of another heartless human being, then what we see before us, in the victims and perpetrators, is the gravest breach on the sacredness of human life.
Since hearing the news of this tragedy, the families, friends, and our nation hold the family in our thoughts and prayers. I am sure your fellow brothers and sisters around the world are in pain with you due to the devastation of lives brought about pain and sadness, as people of faith within our Guyanese-American community will pray together, calling upon our gracious and merciful God to bring relief and comfort to the victims’ family suffering at this moment.
The pain and grief are felt profoundly by the family members, the public, and the country at large. My prayers and thoughts are with the families, friends, and the people of Guyana who must cope with this vicious act.
The Humanitarian Mission-Guyana Inc, share their grief in this deadly tragedy and all of us are committed and ready to contribute in any possible manner to overcome the catastrophic impact of this human killer cyclone and in alleviating the sufferings of the affected victims’ families.
We stand with the family and authorities in this difficult time and hope that justice will prevail to its fullest capacity, and the perpetrators will face the law to the fullest extent and send a message that such will not be tolerated in our country. While we pray for God’s mercies, we are at a loss for adequate words of comfort to the bereaved family members who are left behind. We can only offer prayers for you in these days of grief:
Life is so fragile. Loss is so sudden. Many hearts so are broken. In the wake of such a loss, we are haunted by things we do not – and may never – understand. Yet the solace we seek may not come from answers. Therefore, we look for comfort in the belief of love’s everlasting connection. May that love lift you, hold you close, and give you peace. I extend my deepest sympathy to their families and friends; I pray that God gives their families and friends the strength and clarity in this exceedingly difficult time of sadness.
