An Esian Collins goal is all that was needed to keep Young Strikers hopes alive as action in the GT BEER/BFA/Candy Boss Berbice football competition continued on Friday night at the All Saints School Ground on Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam.
Young Strikers, led by Collins 35-minute goal recorded their first points in the competition as they disposed of Republican 1-0. Both teams are on three points and have one more match to play. Edinburg Gunners have already qualified for the knock out stage while Rosignol United only need a draw to shut out both Young strikers and Republican in Group ‘B·’
In other matches in the Friday night’s triple header, Beacon FC mauled Hopetown FC 3-1 while Monedderlust needled Mahaica Determinators FC to stay unbeaten as they lead group ‘A’ with 7 points from three matched.
Jerral Joseph scored the gamed lone goal in the 35 minute to give Monedderlust the group next weekend and a will for either team will send them into the next round while a draw will allow Mahaica to go through on a better goal average.
In group”C”, Beacon FC got their goals of the booths of Dean Alfred in the first minute of play, Queson McTuley four minutes later and Keifer Brandt in the 45h minute. Hopetown got their consolation goal off the booth of Darrel Douglas in the 7th minute.
Beacon FC head the points with6 points from three games while Orealla ‘B’ (Siparuta) are on five points from a similar amount of games and Berbice Police with one point less having played the same number of games. Arsenal has two points with one game remaining and have slim chanced of moving past the group stage.
Meanwhile, the completion continues tonight at the same venue with Corriverton Links taking on Black Sharks. Corriverton have lost the lone game they played so far while the Sharks have a win and a draw. Group ‘D’ also encounte rrof Mahaicony FC with a lost and a draw making tonight’s encounter
between Corriverton Links taking on Black Sharks a ‘do or die’ affair.
