Shears-toting bandits nabbed after robbing couple

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force have arrested two suspects who alleged attacked and robbed a young man and woman at Cummings Lodge, East Coat Demerara.
According to Police reports, the incident occurred sometime around 00:30h at the University of Guyana Access Public Road, during which the victims were relieved of a cellular phone valued ,000 and ,000 in cash.
It was reported that Anthony Dharamraj, 20, and Anisa Issehani, 18, both of Cummings Lodge, were walking on the UG Access Road when they were attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a pair of shears.
The perpetrators dealt the victims several lashes about their bodies before robbing them of their cell phone and the cash.
The matter was reported to the Police and swift action led to the arrest of the two men. Searches conducted on the suspects found the stolen items in their possession as well as the shears used during the crime.
Meanwhile, the victims were escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were treated and sent away.
