Second round of Amerith Rocky Rai Memorial T20 Cricket

The action continued in the Amerith Rocky Rai Memorial T20 Cricket on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD), where Balbinder Shivpersaud, Yutesh Dhanpaul, Naresh Persaud and Anand Bharat highlighted the second round of play in the tournament.
The first match, which commenced at the Canal #2 Ground, saw Rising Stars ‘A’ Team defeating Saw Pit by 34 runs. Batting first, Rising Stars were bowled out for 112 runs scored in 19.3 overs. Anand Bharat top scored with 28 runs.
Bowling for Saw Pit, Imran Khan with 4 – 16 and Shivram Mahase with 4-8 did the damage with the ball.
Responding, Saw Pit were never in the chase, and were bowled out for 74 runs in 16 overs. Shivram Mahase scoreed 27 runs and Naresh Persaud 22 runs. Bowling for the winners, Anand Bharat picked up the tournament’s second hat trick by grabbing 4 for 2 from 3 overs. He was supported by Christian Husbands with 2 for 12.
Meanwhile, at Belle Vue Ground, Christ Ambassadors beat Players Cricket Club by 66 runs. Batting first, Christ Ambassadors were bowled out for 113 runs in 16.2 overs, with Emanuel Martin leading the way with 33 runs and Melroy Albert with 25 runs. Bowling for Players Cricket Club, Shivdat Motie returned figures of 3 for 18.
Players Cricket Club in reply were skittled out for a meagre 47 runs, as Ameer Mustapa ended up being the only player to reach double figures with 13 runs. No bowling figures were available for Christ Ambassadors.
The second match then continued at Belle Vue Ground, with Saw Pit beating Players Cricket Club. Batting first, Saw Pit scored a challenging 190-6 in their 20 overs. Left hander Naresh Persaud scored 67 runs, which included 6 sixes and 4 fours. He was well supported by Avinash Ragnauth with 45 runs. Bowling for Players, Shivdat Motie bagged 3 – 37 and Davinan Jailall 2-20.
In reply, Players were bowled out for 123 runs. Shivdat Motie scored 48 runs and Avinash Bhiro 22 runs. Bowling for Saw Pit, Rabindra Rajroop’s 3-21 and Terrence Singh’s 2-13 completed the victory for Saw Pit.
Over at Zeeburg Sports Ground, the home team defeated the Windsor Forest team. Batting first, Zeeburg scored 210-5 in 20 overs, with Balbinder Shivpersaud top scoring with 70 runs, and Yutesh Dhanpaul scoring 63 runs. Maniram Ragnauth was the best bowler for Windsor Forest, with 2-40.
In reply, Windsor Forest were dismissed for 159 runs scored in 19 overs. Abdullah Wazidali top scored with 58 runs, and Doodnauth Dhanraj supported with 38 runs. The bowlers for Zeeburg were Captain Mark Jeffers, with 2-24, and Deonarine Saffeek, with 2-20. They bowled Zeeburg to yet another victory.
According to Organizer Troy Khan, the mining company is currently looking to have similar tournaments played in Berbice and Georgetown. He also stated that this present tournament is not being facilitated by the West Demerara Board, and that several matches are set to continue tomorrow.
