Silver Shattas oust GFC in Turbo Football

Linden’s Sliver Shattas produced the upset of the tournament to date when they booted Georgetown Football Club (GFC) from the Turbo Knock out tournament on Tuesday evening at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta.
Second half braces by Dexter Garraway and Damion Williams scripted a memorable come-from-behind 5-2 victory for Shattas. Garraway scored in the 58th And 67th while Williams made his mark with conversions in the 78th and 85th.
The Linden unit were trailing by two goals at the end of the first half after Jermaine Padmore (8th) and Curtez Kellman (27th) put the Bourda unit ahead. However, the script changed totally when Robin Adams scored in the 43rd, it was all over for GFC.

In the second match of the night, Grove Hi-Tech won 5-3 against Santos. It was another combination of doubles from Joel Dick and Domini Garnett that scripted the thrilling win. Dick converted in the 7th and 11th while Garnett pierced the defence in the 40th and 90th. Lloyd Mathews opened the East Bank unit account in the 9th.
For the city side Santos, Orin Yard (21st), Keith Cains (31st) and Lionel Holder (74th) led the rally but it was not enough.
Matches continue on tonight at the same venue when Uitvulgt clash Kuru Kurue from 18:30h and Riddim Squad battled Pouderoyen from 21:00h.
The teams are contesting for a first-place prize of $500,000 while the runners-up will receive $250,000; third place, $125,000 and fourth place, $75,000.
