Silvies Variety Store, which has been established for over four decades, has now become ISO 9001-2015 Certified.
Over the past two years, the company has been preparing for the certification. During a simple ceremony held at SVS’s Hadfield and High Street, Georgetown branch on Thursday, Global Compliance Service (GCS) presented the certification to the proprietor of SVS, Bramanand Persaud. GSC is an International ISO Certification Body and Registrar headed in Geneva, Switzerland, and is a leading ISO Management Systems Registrar in Europe with operational offices in the United States, Canada, Trinidad and now Guyana.
Chief Executive Officer of SVS, Bramanand Persaud said that his parents started the business as a snackette and from there it only grew, adding that now he and his team are filled with joy and excitement at the accomplishment of being ISO Certified. When asked if they have plans to expand now that they are ISO Certified Persaud said “Yes, we do have intentions of opening another branch on the East Coast of Demerara in the near future”.
Speaking on behalf on GCS was their ISO Quality Management Systems Trainer and Auditor Candelle Bostwick, who said that even though GCS has only been in Guyana for fifteen (15) months, they are proud of the quality of service and coaching they provide to companies interested in becoming ISO Certified. Silvies is now the third company for the year of 2021 to become certified.
