Singh, Chatterpaul highlight day of action
The action continued last Sunday in the SPR Enterprise/ECCC 40 Overs and the inaugural Neville Ramotar T/20 cricket competition as several teams on the East Coast of Demerara competed for top honours.
In the SPR Enterprise/ECCC 40 Overs competition Lusignan East defeated LBI SC by 28 runs at Ogle. Batting first, Lusignan East posted 183 all out in 36 overs as S Sahadeo top-scored with 34. N Khan bagged 3-41 from 8 overs. In response, LBI SC were dismissed for 155 in 34 overs, with N Khan and S Jaikarran scoring 45 and 34 runs respectively. P Appana took 4-24 for Lusignan East in a losing effort.

While in the other fixture, Ogle CC defeated Better Hope A at the Better Hope Ground. Better Hope A were only able to score 92 in 24 overs as Ayodha Joseph’s 4-16 ripped through their batting line-up, while Rudranauth Kissoon and Dmauka Ngondo chipped in with 3-8 and 3-31. Ogle CC reached their target for the loss of six wickets in 18 overs, with K Dindyal leading the way with 23.
Buxton SC got the better of Better Hope Sixers by five wickets at Fairfield Ground. Better Hope Sixers were dismissed for a mere 125 in 30 overs. The main wicket-takers were R Merrell (4-22) and Clive Andries (3-7). Buxton SC made light work of the total as they responded with 131-5 in 21 overs with Andries leading the way with an unbeaten 29.
Lusignan B made light work of Beehive SC at the Lusignan Ground as Lusignan B rattled up 336 from 37 overs, with Navin Persaud stoking 108, K Franklin, 52 not out and R Daterdeen, 32. N Ragnauth was the only bowler from Beehive to bag 2-50. Folding to pressure, Beehive responded with 58 as Navin Persaud returned with 4-11 and K Persaud 3-15.
Meanwhile, two matches were played in the ECCC/Neville Ramotar Memorial T/20 knockout competition at Enmore. In game one, Fairfield SC defeated Golden Achievers SC by five wickets. Batting first Golden Achievers SC scored 147-6 off their allotted 20 overs, with D Wilson scoring 47. R Chatura took three wickets for Fairfield SC. Fairfield reached their target for the loss of five wickets with R Lindo unbeaten on 36 despite Quacy Cummings bagging 3-29 for Golden Achievers.
In the final match of the day, Enterprise B SC defeated Lusignan A by 10 runs. Batting first, Enterprise B SC were restricted to 98-8 from their allotted 20 overs, with Vivian Albert scoring 29. Rajpaul Basdeo snagged 4-18. In response, Enterprise B SC were led from the front as leg-spinner veteran Chatterpaul Singh bagged 5-16 as Lusignan A fell short of their target by 10 runs.

Both competitions continue this weekend with matches at Fairfield, Enmore, Ogle, Lusignan, Buxton, Cane Grove and Enterprise Grounds.
