The skeletal remains, which were washed up on the Number 37 Village, West Coast Berbice (Mahaica-Berbice) foreshore, are those of a human.

This was confirmed by Commander of Region Five, Yonette Stephens during an interview with this publication. She added that a Post-Mortem Examination which was done on the bones revealed that it was human remains and investigators would now have submitted the bones for DNA testing.
The bones were found on February 21 at about 10:00h by a farmer who reported the discovery to the Police.
