A quantity of marijuana was on Thursday found aback the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara (ECD), by prison officers who were conducting routine checks around the perimeter.

Reports are on the day in question, an officer observed a bulky black plastic bag in the Lusignan Cane Field opposite the training school, and as such inspected same.
Upon opening the bag, it contained five pairs of Adidas slippers and bamboo. Subsequently, he observed that each pair of slippers contained transparent parcels with the ganja.
The narcotic was handed over to the Police and an investigation was launched.
