Smith still supreme with most runs, Cornwall breaks into 50+ wickets

2018-2019 CWI Regional 4-Day tournament…

In the 2018-2019 CWI Regional 4-Day Tournament, four teams have, to date, each played nine matches, These four teams are: Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Barbados Pride, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, and Jamaica Scorpions. They will play their final round match from Thursday, March 14, 2019.

As of now, the official points’ standings show the Jaguars maintaining their supremacy, having played 10 matches, in which they registered seven wins, suffered three defeats, and have accrued 154.2 points. In second position are the Hurricanes, with six wins, two defeats and one draw from nine matches. They have registered 131.2 points, trailing the Jaguars by 23 points.
Barbados Pride are in third position with 116.2 points. Windward Islands Volcanoes, having played their quota of 10 matches, are in fourth position with 92 points, while the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force have registered 90.6 points. The Jamaica Scorpions continue to struggle at the bottom with 88.6 points.
Veteran Devon Smith ended another season among the runs, having scored 745 runs in nine matches, averaging 43.82. The leading run scorer in the 2018-2019 Regional Super 50 has one more match to play. Jonathan Carter, who scored 677 runs, is second to Devon Smith.
Devon Thomas who made a great leap on the runs chart, is in third position with 653 runs in eight matches, averaging 43.53. He scored one century and six half-centuries.
Montcin Hodge has 647 runs, while Anthony Bramble has 580, Tagenarine Chanderpaul has 542, and Keacy Carty has 515 runs. Those are the batters with 500+ runs.
Still unable to earn selection for Windies’ duty, Rahkeem Cornwall has snared 51 wickets in eight matches this season. He leads the bowling charts, having grabbed three five-wicket hauls, with a best bowling figure of 6-57. Veerasammy Permaul has 42 wickets, while Nikita Miller who played five matches has 41 wickets.
Imran Khan has 38 wickets this season, with one match to play; while Romario Shepherd, the only fast bowler with 30+ wickets this season, is ranked fifth on the bowling charts with his 37 scalps. Left-arm spinner Kaveem Hodge has 30 wickets this season. Anthony Bramble has 43 dismissals in his 10 matches while Barbados’ Tevyn Walcott has 31 dismissals with the gloves. (Brandon Corlette)
