A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Rupert Douglas, 26, of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD), pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on January 30, 2016 at Coverden Public Road, EBD he drove motor car PTT 1892 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of Ann Mohamed.
The prosecution told the Court that on the day in question, Mohammed was a pedestrian when the defendant’s motor car slammed into a parked pick-up truck which in turn struck the woman. She was reportedly pinned and died on the spot.
