Soldier, GWI employee busted with ganja during Police raid

A member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and an employee of the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) were arrested on Saturday with a quantity of ganja during a Police operation.
Based on reports received, a team of policemen conducted a raid on a house at Goed Fortuin Squatting Area, West Bank Demerara (WBD), which is occupied by the 38-year-old soldier and the 32-year-old GWI employee.

The cannabis that was found during the Police operation

During the search, a white transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of zip lock bags with leaves, seeds and stems was found in the living room hidden behind a cabinet.
The men were immediately told of the allegation and cautioned. They both denied having knowledge of the narcotics.
As such, they were arrested and escorted to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station where the ganja was weighed in their presence and amounted to 16 grams.
The cannabis was lodged and an investigation has been launched.
