A 40-year-old miner and businessman is now in custody of the Police in Region One, having been detained at the Port Kaituma Waterfront in the Baraima-Waini community of Region One last evening at about 21:00hrs with a firearm and two and a half dozen live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), lawmen acting on intelligence went to the Waterfront area at about 21:00h and contacted the suspect, a resident of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara who goes by the alias “Soldier,” and a search of his person discovered the ammunition. He is being processed for court.
