Soldier killed after losing control of car at Haurauni

A 26-year-old soldier is now dead after losing control of the car he was driving at Haurauni, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

The incident occurred just about 07:10h this morning and the dead man has been identified as Wilmot Warde of Lot 1608 Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.

Based on the information, Warde was driving motorcar PLL 6077 proceeding north along the western side of the Haurauni Public Road at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the car ended up on the western parapet, where the driver fell onto the driveway of Scotty Creek.

He received injuries about his body.

Warde was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a semi-conscious condition and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he died while receiving medical treatment.

The body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

The GPF has since launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
