Soldier robbed at gunpoint in Linden

A serving member of the Guyana Defence Force has been pounced on and robbed of an iPhone 13 PRO at his home in Linden, Region 10.
Reports are that the 24-year-old soldier was sitting on his verandah in South Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden at about 22:20h when two men attacked and robbed him.
According to the Police, the soldier went home with his motorcycle, and parked it in his yard before going into his home and securing his jewellery. He then went outside to relax in his verandah; and while sitting there, he was confronted by the two perpetrators, who jumped over his verandah and hit him in the head with their firearms, causing him to receive injuries.
According to the Police, the GDF rank reported that one of the gunmen was clad in a blue shirt and three-quarter pants, and was armed with a silver handgun, while the other was dressed in pink- coloured clothing, had his face covered, and was armed with a black handgun.
The soldier has said that the men took his cell phone, valued at $300,000, and his motorcycle key out of his hand, and the gunman in the blue shirt discharged a shot in the air before both men made good their escape on foot in an easterly direction.
The matter was reported to the Police, and the scene was processed, photographed, and canvassed for CCTV cameras.
A .32 spent shell was recovered in the verandah, where it was lodged.
The soldier later sought medical treatment for the injuries he sustained. A Police investigation is underway.
