Son chops father, leaves him to die in backdam

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man of Wakenaam, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), after he confessed to chopping his father and leaving him to die in the backdam.
Reports are the man and his father left for the backdam but the son returned, claiming that he was feeling unwell.
According to Police, relatives asked about the whereabouts of his father and the son claimed that he left his father in the backdam. However, checks for the father led to the discovery of his pants and a cell phone. On Monday evening, Police said that the son then travelled to Troolie Island where villagers further questioned him and he confessed to chopping his father several times and leaving him to die following an argument.
He was apprehended by villagers and handed over to Police. Up to press time Police were searching for the injured man.
