A Sophia resident is expected to be arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court sometime this week after he allegedly attempted to bribe a police officer to have his son released from custody.
Based on reports received, five live rounds of ammunition and a .32 pistol fell from the body of a 19 year old, just as he attempted to flee from ranks on a motorcycle. He was reportedly in the company of another male at the time of the incident. After leading Police on a chase for a while, the duo was apprehended. They are currently still in Police custody.
However, a rank was approached by the father of the teen, who offered a bribe of $500,000 in cash in order to secure his son’s release and have all charges dropped against him. The officer reportedly informed his superiors and a sting operation was set up to reveal whether the father was indeed trying to pay off an officer of the law.
On Friday last, the 19-year-old’s father was arrested after he showed up with the cash, ready to pay the Police Officer.
Both the teen and his father are expected to face different charges this week at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
