Sophia man shot over old grievance

Sophia, Greater Georgetown resident Shawn Joseph is now nursing a gunshot wound to his back, inflicted on Thursday following an argument with another man over an old grievance.
Based on reports received, the shooting incident, which reportedly took place in the vicinity of a city business place in Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, occurred just after Joseph and a friend had finished consuming a meal in Breda Street and had decided to go to a shop in Leopold Street.
As they were using the compound of the city business place to access Breda Street, Joseph was approached by the suspect, identified only as “Struggle”, and an argument erupted between the two men over a previous misunderstanding.
“Struggle” allegedly broke a beer bottle and attacked Joseph, a vendor, who in turn whipped out a knife to defend himself.
The sound of an explosion was then heard, and Joseph began to experience a burning sensation on his upper left back. He reportedly fell unconscious, and when he regained consciousness, he was in an ambulance heading to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Joseph is said to be in a stable condition at the GPHC, but the perpetrator remains at large.
