Sophia murder suspect still at large

Almost one week after a brawl in B Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, left Roy Beckles dead, the prime suspect, Troy Tasho is still on the run. This is according to Commander C Division (East Coast Demerara), Calvin Brutus during a telephone interview with Guyana Times on Saturday.

The Commander posited that thus far, the Police have not received any useful information that would lead to the arrest of the wanted man but at the same time, stated that the Police are continuing their search for the suspect.

Wanted: Troy Tasho

He nevertheless urged members of the public to come forward if they are in possession with any information that would lead to his arrest. The wanted man is described as being of mixed race and his last known addresses were listed as B Field Reserve, Sophia, and Back Circle, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

On Monday last, Beckles and Tasho were involved in a heated argument after the latter failed to pay the other money that was promised to him for completing a job.

Their argument reportedly escalated to the point where both men armed themselves with cutlasses and started to trade blows. Tasho reportedly dodged his blows and managed to disarm Beckles.

Though Beckles attempted to flee, the suspect caught up with him some distance away and allegedly stabbed him once to the right shoulder.

The suspect fled the scene while an injured Beckles was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the nearest Police station or dial 911.
