Sophia residents fined for abusive language

Two separate cases involving the use of abusive language by Sophia, Greater Georgetown residents, were before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty.
In the first case, a trio, 49-year-old Aveny Evelyn, 19-year-old Alisha Henry, and 20-year-old Shuel Hudson, were charged with using abusive language towards Viola King on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Lot 116 Block E, Sophia. The defendants appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, pleaded not guilty, and were each granted $10,000 bail. They were also placed on a bond to keep the peace while the matter is before the court. The case has been adjourned to February 13, 2026.
In a separate case, a duo, 63-year-old Ruupnauth Ramcharan and 62-year-old Indranie Ramcharan, were charged with using abusive language towards Victor Henry on January 7, 2026, at North Sophia, Georgetown.
The defendants pleaded guilty and were each fined $10,000.
