Sophia stun defending champs St Angela’s

Sophia Primary continued to send the strong message that they mean serious business when they needled two-time defending champions St Angela’s Primary as the Courts/Malta Pee-Wee Football continued on Saturday at the Banks DIH ground at Thirst Park in Georgetown.

The difference in the closely contested match became obvious when David Weeks scored in the 12th minute. In similar fashion, Jermaine Crum-Ewing’s 25th minute strike piloted 2016 runner-ups St. Agnes to a win over Redeemer.
Victoria Primary was also on the delivering end of a 1-0 win over South Ruimveldt, thanks to Kelon Croal’s goal in the 25th; while School of the Nations recorded victory by the same margin over Mocha, thanks to Timothy Braithwaite’s goal which was scored in the 12th minute of the game.
St Ambrose overcame Den Amstel by a 1-0 margin, thanks to Jacob Rodney scoring in the 29th minute; while Marian Academy stole the show with a 7-0 drubbing of Winfer Gardens.
Doubles from Bradley Walton (12th, 27th), Michael Alphonso (29th, 30th) and Asher Adams (5th, 9th), along with a single from Malik Baker (20th), scripted the comfortable win.
St. John’s Bosco Orphanage of Plaisance produced the most thumping performance of the tournament, nailing Goed Fortune with 11 goals. Jamal Ali was the most prolific scorer on the day, after bagging an incredible 5 goals.
Ronaldo Harry scored a hat-trick and Stephon Atkinson a brace, while Clinton Rickett scored one in the 11-goal rout.
Mae’s 1-0 win over St Stephen’s Primary came off the boot of Mickhail Mason, while St Margaret’s and Enterprise played to a goalless draw. West Ruimveldt trashed Supply Primary 6-0, with a hat- trick from Ian Daniels (6th, 19th, 20th) and single strikes from Devon Chance (13th), Mickon Vandenburg (10th) and Richie Samroop (28th).
St Pius overcame Soesdyke 5-0, with four goals coming from Dwayne Baptiste, scored in the 1st, 2nd, 13th and 15th minutes; while Haden Wellington scored in the 3rd minute.
Joshua Waterman and Shabaz Cameron were on mark for Smith Memorial’s 2-0 win over Calaaco, while Stella Maris beat Timheri 3-0, thanks to three precise strikes from Fedel Norville (13th, 17th, 21st).
Tucville and F.E. Pollard played to a goalless stalemate, while J.E. Burnham was beaten 4-0 by La Parfaite Harmonie. A double each from Joshua Daniels (3rd and 9th) and Alex Ramotar (11th and 30th) cemented this team’s dominance.
