Sophia teen shot during Police pursuit

The Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday morning at Block E Sophia, Georgetown, during which a 19-year-old labourer was injured.
According to initial reports, ranks on mobile patrol duty received information that the teen was wanted in connection with an alleged robbery under arms matter.
Police said the ranks later observed the 19-year-old riding a motorcycle and pursued him. The teen reportedly stopped in front of his yard, dropped the motorcycle, and ran into the yard.
During the encounter, a Police rank discharged one round from a service firearm, striking the 19-year-old to the left side of his abdomen.
The injured teen was apprehended and escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he remains a patient. Police said his condition is listed as stable.
Investigators recovered one 9mm spent shell at the scene, while the service firearm involved in the incident has been lodged for examination.
The matter remains under investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.
