Spankhurst leads earnings from horse races in Guyana

The Jumbo Jet-owned champion horse Spankhurst is leading the earnings for the 2024 horse racing season, and will be eyeing more dominance on Sunday, April 28, at the Jumbo Jet Race of Champions meet at Rising Sun Turf Club.
Spankhurst has recorded two wins and one third from three starts, earning G$4.5M for its efforts.
Stolen Money, the big grey horse, is the second-highest earner, having recorded one win, two second places and a fourth place from four starts, for which it has earned G$3.25M for its efforts.
Crowd favourite Bossalina, who is set to return to action on April 28 at the Rising Sun Turf Club, is the third-highest earner, with one win and one third from two starts, for which it has earned G$2.5M.
Four-year-old Firecracker has earned G$1.5M for its efforts in recording two wins from two starts. It is the fourth-highest earner.

Three-year-old Country Rock is the fifth-highest earner, with two wins and one second place earning it G$1.3M. Easy Time, which placed second in its only start for 2024, has earned G$1M, and is the sixth-highest earner. Money Time, Jessica Pride, She WBO Time and Creemore are the other horses that round out the top 10 earners for 2024.
Eight high-quality races are on the provisional programme of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s Race of Champions meet, set for April 28 at the Rising Sun Turf Club. More than G$10M will be up for grabs, and the feature race, which will be open to all imported and locally-bred horses, will be contested over 1,600 metres for a winner’s purse of G$2M.
Spankhurst, Bossalina, Easy Time, Jessica’s Pride and Stolen Money are among the top horses that would be contesting that race. A total sum of G$3.75M would be expended as prize money in this event, the entry fee for which is G$232,500.
Races are subject to being changed, and entries for the April 28 Race of Champions meet will be closed on April 22. Horses must be properly entered in order to participate in any race.
